Xeni, my favorite sexbot from the future, has a problem
with dispensaries in her neighborhood.
If dispensaries were not for profit they would
not exist for long; very little does.
The local (OC) dispensaries are very tight about
having proper paperwork. They are also discrete.
An interesting question is whether brick and
mortar dispensaries can compete with delivery
only, which has lower overhead.

He has offered a law to alter the First Amendment rights of Americans by
banning anti-war activists from putting the names of fallen soldiers on
T-shirts with messages such as "Bush lied" on the front and "They died" on the back; he observed that the dead soldiers fought to protect freedom, and "opportunists" should not be allowed to "exploit" the sacrifices with political messages opposing war.

Chalmers Johnson in The Sorrows of Empire:
"The only truly common elements in the totality of America's foreign bases are imperialism and militarism--an impulse on the part of our elites to dominate other peoples largely because we have the power to do so, followed by the strategic reasoning that, in order to defend these newly acquired outposts and control the regions they are in, we must expand the areas under our control with still more bases. To maintain its empire, the Pentagon must constantly invent new reasons for keeping in our hands as many bases as possible long after the wars and crises that led to their creation have evaporated."
By James Madison, primary author of the Constitution:
"Of all enemies to public liberty, war is, perhaps, the most to be dreaded, because it comprises and develops the germ of every other. War is the parent of armies; from these proceed debt and taxes; and armies, and debts, and taxes are the known instruments for bringing the many under the domination of the few."

Mind you, we are all immies. I'm 5th generation on one side, 1880s from eastern europe. And my ancestors would have had bad english, strange customs, possibly large families (though probably not; not catholics). Worked in textiles, farming, sales. My dad and aunts are lawyers. I'm a lawyer, my bro a mega quant at a credit card company, or consulting on that kind of work now. Another in jail occasionally.
I don't harbor problems with legal immies and I sympathize with wetbacks --but the
volume is so large, I do wonder about costs. And while Rand wanted open borders (complete meritocracy, completely free market for labor) I have some doubts.
Actually I like recent immies so long as they know the BoR.
What is the point of admitting vietnamese if they can't stomache dissent?
Am I becomming a crusty old fart? I don't think so. I hope not.
Washington DC is more a hazard than wannabe ag workers jumping the border.
Legalizing pharms would eliminate a huge amount of crime and smuggling.
Smuggling special nuclear materials, fer instance.
I also worry about Mexico exporting criminals, or them being attracted by
the US. That probably justifies a border role even in lib utopias.

Once again the "statistic" more than doubles the actual figures. According to a 2006 story in The Times, there were 41,240 Medi-Cal births to "undocumented women" in the county in 2004. They accounted for 27% of all births
This in an article intended to *minimize* the number of illegals' births. Yet its over a quarter!

State seeks to revoke license of Anaheim day-care center after toddlers wound up on train tracks [Updated]
September 2, 2009 | 12:13 pm
State regulators want to revoke the child-care license of an Anaheim YMCA day-care center after two toddlers wandered off during an outing last month and were found on nearby railroad tracks.
In a complaint filed this week, the Department of Social Services said the YMCA Children’s Station violated health and safety laws by failing to adequately supervise and protect the 2-year-old boys, who were discovered missing during a routine head count. They were returned unharmed.
The state said the day-care center did not have enough adults supervising children

Predator is used in two ways in early 21st century pop media. The first is as a remotely operated plane --a killer robot, since they usually have a missile or two on them. This is their good meaning.
The other is sexual preditor, Megan's List (tm) enrollee. That is the bad meaning.
If you shift perspective a little, realize that 14 is fine for marrying (eg
Davy Crockett, and still the lower boundary in Kentucky) albeit riskier for breeding than say 18 for biological reasons; and that killer aerial robots might be considered at least dishonorable, at most satanic, by various opposers.
Jus sayin'.
BTW, you will not get breast cancer if you have over 8 kids. Its a medical
fact --you avoid the estrogen that promotes the cells.

This is on my way to work. Next to a go-cart place.
Oh yeah, I got a doctor's recommendation. The one I had from 1999
wasn't being accepted.
Under the airport's approach path. Obscure but worth it.
My BP in the MD's office was 160/100. WTF? AT home it was under 130/77.
My gout is flaring up on the other (right) toe. Looks worse than it feels.
Indomethicin helps, but this time its not gone quickly. Yet I'm fasting or
only eating carbs.
You know why Al Gore invented the internet?

In about 3 hours you can be qualified and supplied. The choices will amaze you
if you're a fogey like me. It could all be done in Irvine; my MD was just a mile north, because they could schedule me sooner. The MD was $150 (no cost if no recommendation) and the dispensopharmacies charge about a third more than a freelancer ---though given all the expenses of a regular biz, this is a great deal. (No overhead, adverts, state taxes, disability, SS, etc for the free lancers.)
Oh, and guess what? I pay taxes, stay out of trouble, drive conservatively,
have a brilliant son, and build useful medical instruments. What a concept.
I've donated money to: politican campaigns (Dr Paul), public television (after
seeing Animusic), my high school in name of my science teacher Dr Priest,
and once to a woman who was trying to find a dog that had been stolen during a
home robbery when I was picking up my second black cat. (The first I had raised
from kitten hood to 18+ years; the second, my current buddy,
was nomimally 5 years old.) Recently I leave penny change at the corner store where I have taken to buying beer after work; the fellow there once let me take a penny.
Its quite unnatural but I do feel the fuzzies from helping generic others.
No, I'm not autistic, as far as I can feel. :-)

Why don't they just say "when he drove over a mine"?
No, its gotta be "enemy forces" "attacking". With some multisyllablic weaseling for a homemade mine.
I'm reading about the IRA. The "enemy forces" are "volunteers" aka freedom fighters (tm). The IRA needed to improvise more
than the folks the US is invading.

Adm. Mike Mullen, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, says American messages to counter information coming from extremists abroad "lack credibility."
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/32589657/ns/politics-the_new_york_times/
Ya think?
WASHINGTON - The chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff has written a searing critique of government efforts at “strategic communication” with the Muslim world, saying that no amount of public relations will establish credibility if American behavior overseas is perceived as arrogant, uncaring or insulting.
Too late.
While President Obama has sought to differentiate himself from his predecessor, George W. Bush, in the eyes of the Muslim world — including through a widely praised speech in Egypt on June 4 — the perception of America as an arrogant oppressor has not changed noticeably, particularly in Iraq and Afghanistan, where United States forces remain engaged in war, and in Pakistan, where American-launched missiles aimed at militants from the Taliban and Al Qaeda have killed civilians.
Obama is a darker Bush. Same wars, same ownership by Israel, just a little more socialism.
“Most of them aren’t even in caves. The Taliban and Al Qaeda live largely among the people. They intimidate and control and communicate from within, not from the sidelines.”
Actually, its the US troops kicking down doors that intimidates and controls.
As a guide, Admiral Mullen cited American efforts at rebuilding Europe after World War II and then containing communism as examples of successes that did not depend on opinion polls or strategic communication plans. He cited more recent military relief missions after natural disasters as continuing that style of successful American efforts overseas.
What is he smoking? Communism wasn't contained. Tens of thousands of lives were lost. Nam was lost, Korea a stalemate, and now the north (still at war with the US)
has nukes.

Congresswoman Tammy Baldwin (D-WI)
Rep. Susan Davis (D-San Diego)
Who is Sibel Edmonds referring to? Who decided
the Armenian genocide wasn't worth recognition,
after the existance of sex tapes starring herself
and another woman were made known to her?
Who let themselves be blackmailed?
The reason there's a question mark is I lacked
13 -- I was terminated by April 2002, but this
14 particular Congresswoman -- the Turkish --
15 these Turkish organizations and operatives, if
16 they can't do it by money, they do by
17 blackmail. So they collect information on
18 sexual lives and other information like that,
19 and with this particular Congresswoman, it
20 being 2000 until I left, they -- this
21 individual, this Congresswoman's married with
22 children, grown children, but she is bisexual.
So they have sent Turkish female agents, and
2 that Turkish female agents work for Turkish
3 government, and have sexual relationship with
4 this Congresswoman in her townhouse actually
5 in this area, and the entire episodes of their
6 sexual conduct was being filmed because the
7 entire house, this Congressional woman's house
8 was bugged. So they have all that documented
9 to be used for certain things that they wanted
10 to request when I left. So I don't know
11 whether she -- that Congresswoman complied and
12 gave. That's why I couldn't use her name
13 because I don't -- I meant her face because I
14 don't know if she did anything illegal
15 afterwards.
But she was -- there are things;
17 information was being collected for blackmail
18 purposes, and her lesbian relationship, and
19 they, the Turkish entities, wanted both
20 congressional related favoritism from her, but
21 also her husband was in a high position in the
22 area in the state she was elected from, and

Rep. Susan Davis (D-San Diego)
Who is Sibel Edmonds referring to? Who decided
the Armenian genocide wasn't worth recognition,

Who let themselves be blackmailed?
The reason there's a question mark is I lacked

15 these Turkish organizations and operatives, if
16 they can't do it by money, they do by

18 sexual lives and other information like that,
19 and with this particular Congresswoman, it

So they have sent Turkish female agents, and
2 that Turkish female agents work for Turkish

5 in this area, and the entire episodes of their
6 sexual conduct was being filmed because the
7 entire house, this Congressional woman's house
8 was bugged. So they have all that documented
9 to be used for certain things that they wanted
10 to request when I left. So I don't know
11 whether she -- that Congresswoman complied and
12 gave. That's why I couldn't use her name
13 because I don't -- I meant her face because I
14 don't know if she did anything illegal
15 afterwards.
But she was -- there are things;
17 information was being collected for blackmail
18 purposes, and her lesbian relationship, and
19 they, the Turkish entities, wanted both

The anti-immigration mayor of a northern Italian city has barred Muslim women from wearing the controversial body-concealing swimsuit known as a burqini, a report said Wednesday.
Women wearing the garment made up of a veil, a tunic and loose leggings face a fine of 500 euros (700 dollars) if spotted at swimming pools or riversides in the northern Piedmont town of Varallo Sesia, the ANSA news agency reported.
"The sight of a 'masked woman' could disturb small children, not to mention problems of hygiene," mayor Gianluca Buonanno was quoted as saying.
"We don't have to be tolerant all the time," he said.

SANTA ANA - An 11-year-old Orange County boy named Xavier created a Facebook page for himself without his parents' knowledge, posted pictures of kids swimming, and in a status update this month, announced that he had swine flu.
When his parents found out, they sued Facebook.
Perhaps we can locate more information about these moron plaintiffs... :-) Streisand Effect, anyone?

NJ city considers adult curfew after crime spate

(AP) — PATERSON, N.J. - Curfews might not be just for kids anymore in one city in northern New Jersey.
Officials in Paterson are considering one for people of all ages in a bid to curb violence after a spate of deadly shootings.
Several experts say they believe it would be the nation's first curfew of its type to include adults. The state ACLU says it would open Paterson to legal action.
The curfew would last for two months and would bar people from loitering outside from midnight to 7 a.m. Violators would face up to a $2,000 fine and 90 days in jail.
Officials are still working to make sure the plan can withstand legal challenges.
If the City Council passes it Sept. 1, a second vote and a public hearing are needed for it to take effect.

Sheriff Joe Arpaio has finally lost it.
http://www.azcentral.com/community/phoenix/articles/2009/08/13/20090813computer0813.html
Maricopa County sheriff's deputies on Wednesday stormed into a county building, seized control of a computer system and threatened to arrest county employees if they tried to stop them, according to county officials.
Then, according to Wade Swanson, an attorney for the supervisors, sheriff's personnel began changing passwords and locked down the computer rooms.
From /.
"Four days ago, deputies from the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office in Arizona conducted a raid against the county government building hosting computers for a law enforcement database. After threatening to arrest county employees who would stop them, the officers proceeded to secure the room and promptly changed passwords on many of the servers. In a hearing on Friday, a Superior Court judge threatened to hold members of the Sheriff's Office in contempt if they did not reveal the passwords by next Wednesday. Following this, the Sheriff's Office claimed to be conducting an investigation against other Superior Court judges. Courts have asked for passwords before, but never under conditions like this."
Its August. Maybe the Arizona heat got to him.

You get a letter which claims to be from some "court". It asserts that you "must" reply, spending time and money without apparent reimbursement. You've never agreed to any such obligation, so you toss it. Some time later you get another threatening letter with the same request. You should also toss it.
Any legitimate court would know that the postal service loses mail (they are a government "service" after all). And any legitimate court would know that value can't be taken from you without reimbursement (legally its called "taking"). And that you cannot be enslaved (conscripted, drafted, summoned, made an indentured servant, see the 13th), and that the Constitution (the 14th) prohibits local petty tyrants, judges, court "officials" from violating those rights.
Don't be fooled by these "jury duty" scams ---you are self sovereign.
Or a sheep, slave, statenigger.
Though if you do choose to accept an invitation to be
on a jury, realize that you have the final say about
the validity of the law ---not the judge, who will deceive
you about this.

If you disagree, then follow "the law" and send the runaway slaves back to their masters.

LOS ANGELES -- A poster showing President Barack Obama as Heath Ledger's "Joker" character from "The Dark Knight" is creating a stir on the streets of Los Angeles where the image began appearing over the weekend.
The Obama-Joker poster shows President Obama with white face paint, dark eye shadow and smudged red lipstick and also has the word "socialism" printed in bold, dark letters under the image of his face.
It's unclear who created the image and who is posting it across the city. No one has taken credit so far.
Los Angeles Urban Policy Roundtable President Earl Ofari Hutchinson is calling the depiction, politically mean spirited and dangerous.
Hutchinson is challenging the group or individual that put up the poster to have the courage and decency to publicly identify themselves.
“Depicting the president as demonic and a socialist goes beyond political spoofery,” says Hutchinson,” it is mean-spirited and dangerous.
We have issued a public challenge to the person or group that put up the poster to come forth and publicly tell why they have used this offensive depiction to ridicule President Obama

Rep. Darrell Issa (Calif.), the panel's ranking Republican, was more concerned about the broad availability of pirated, commercial software on P2P networks. Waiving a CD-Rom filled with dozens of examples of tax returns downloaded from P2P networks, Issa addressed Mark Gorton, chairman of LimeWire parent The Lime Group. Issa said he was concerned about hundreds of millions of dollars of software stolen each year through P2P.
"I will tell you this disk represents to me a referral to the California attorney general if we cannot be satisfied," Issa said. "If you condone and allow and induce this to happen, you are guilty of cooperating and participating in every criminal act that flows from that activity."
Hey Issa, the manufacturer of a device is not responsible for its use.
Guns don't kill people, people kill people. Same for software.

SANTA ANA – A Superior Court judge ruled Tuesday that there is legal justification to keep the Central Men’s Jail under medical quarantine – at least for a couple of days – to control a swine flu outbreak.
Judge Thomas Goethals said the “significant medical public health event” in the men’s jail is good cause to temporarily suspend constitutional guarantees to speedy trials, preliminary hearings and arraignments for some criminal case defendants.
He made his ruling over the objections of the county public defender’s office and the alternate defender’s office after a special 90-minute hearing on the status of the health scare in the main men’s jail, which usually houses 800 to 900 inmates.

Kinda makes you want to get drunk, rape a 14 year old, kill her family, and burn her body. But that's an Army thing, right?

Jared Diamond: do you think as a high status visitor that the eg New Guineans you met were also subject to selection bias?
Prof Diamond: do you think that 'primitive' cultures might have higher average intelligence (or 'g' factor) than urban cultures because the former selects more
than the latter (ie, urban life is cushier, more survivable).
M & H: why do you not consider that the american negro has been selected for slavery for several tens of generations? (Well, because as you write, the same tests
show a gap for native african populations).
So, I wonder about selection bias.

Officer Michael Doyle noticed that a car being driven by Lawrence Louhisdon, 31, of 107 Maxwell St., Apt. 3, was missing its front license plate, said Lt. Robert Nedder. When Doyle ran the back plate through the system, he found a warrant for Louhisdon from West Roxbury District Court for failure to attend jury duty, Nedder said.
Doyle followed Louhisdon's red 1994 Honda Accord and arrested him at 47 Milton St. at 10:49 a.m., Nedder said.
WAYLAND - A Natick woman was arrested Wednesday at 6 p.m. on a warrant, police said.
Tracy A. Walker, 49, of 4 Third St., had a Lowell District Court warrant charging her with failing to appear for jury duty, police said.

Freethinkers have supported abortion for eugenic reasons,
which despite the Times' author's opinion, is a good thing.

Interesting potential for interaction between culture
and genetics here. If there's a genetic link to rape
behavior, then a culture that tolerates it will see those genes propogate in the population. And vice-versa,
A culture that does not
tolerate it (and punishes in a way decreasing the fitness
of the rapist (or victim, actually)) will decrease that genome.
Combined with a cultural tolerancy for multiple partners, its clear that africa is one big incubator. Yet some (paranoids) think the West came up with HIV.

LOS ANGELES — An ever-widening budget gap joined with intractable political paralysis to deliver California its biggest fiscal blow in decades on Thursday, when the state’s controller began printing i.o.u.’s in lieu of cash to pay taxpayers, vendors and local governments.
Apparently there's a fed law that says that states can't go bankrupt. So this should get more fun. Interesting that a state can print its own money, although probably this is technically not money.
I also read that if certain 'state' parks close, the fed gets the land back.

Linda Sanchez, unamerican, unconstitutional race-card piggy congressleaze, and mother of a bastard, calls for the end of anonymity, which was critical in the development of the States, and is guaranteed by our first amendment.
In anticipation of Lori Drew’s sentencing hearing Thursday, Rep. Linda Sanchez (D-California) issued a statement late Wednesday praising prosecutors for their work on the controversial case.
“What Lori Drew did was egregious, and it is time that she be brought to justice,” Sanchez said in a statement designed to draw attention to recent legislation she introduced.
Drew's crime? Not reading or abiding by the user-agreement for a website.
