At my last work, I had a colleage who had a Corona del Mar / Newport accent, which I had once heard long ago
(ca 1990) from a friend. I was able to ID the colleage's upbringing neighborhood.
Just now I talked with a headhunter who had the accent of my La Jolla raised cousin.
Interesting.
